Eastern European countries, and in particular the CIS block with Russia and Ukraine today represent bourgeoning markets with huge business potential. Some large international companies have succeeded in entering these markets, others work through partners, but many are still watching and waiting for the right moment to step in.

For many companies, especially SME’s or those with first-time bad experiences, the risk appears high, with “corruption” at the heart of the image that many westerners have of these zones.

On the one hand it’s a huge mistake to ignore these markets but it’s an even bigger mistake to enter these countries alone without specialized support.
